We originally built these tables for our own celebration because we wanted to serve our dinner on classy wood tables, but they simply didn’t exist in the Seattle area. Azure’s dad, Richard, is a woodworker, so we thought, “How hard could it be?” Three months later we realized how hard it could be to build seating for 170. (Since then we’ve built more).
Richard put the same care into the tables as he does the gorgeous wooden jewelry boxes he crafts for a living. But the process was really a full-family (including neighbors) effort.
The feedback for the tables was so good that before we even finished them a friend asked to use them for their wedding, and since then more of our community has wanted to include them in their own celebrations. It’s been very natural to turn this into a little business.
We’ve been together for 10 years. We both run our own little businesses, Mike washes windows and Azure details boats. In the winter we shut down our businesses and travel the world.
